ether.fi’s weETH and Liquid ETH Are Now on Zerion
ether.fi’s liquid staking and a managed ETH vault, now inside the Zerion web app.

If you just hold ETH in your wallet, you miss the opportunity to earn yield through staking or DeFi.
You can now do both through Zerion Earn with ether.fi. Stake your ETH into weETH or deposit into the Liquid ETH vault directly from the Zerion web app. This post shows how to do this.
Meet ether.fi
ether.fi is a crypto neobank where users can save, grow, and spend their crypto through one connected experience. Common use cases include buying tokens, earning on crypto through vaults, sending money globally through fiat on- and off-ramps, and purchasing everyday goods through a credit card.
Behind that experience is a non-custodial infrastructure that keeps users in control of their assets. Rather than separating investments from everyday finances, ether.fi makes it possible to put assets to work, access liquidity against them, and use them in daily life from the same platform. For ETH holders using Zerion, two products matter: weETH, its liquid staking token, and Liquid ETH, its managed DeFi vault.
Think of them as two levels of earning a yield.
With weETH, you hold a token that earns staking rewards. With Liquid ETH, you hold a share in a vault that allocates funds across DeFi strategies. That vault can use weETH as part of its strategy, so the products are related, but they are not interchangeable.
weETH: stake ETH and keep a usable token
weETH is the wrapped form of ether.fi’s eETH, a staked ETH token.
It lets you hold exposure to staked ETH in a token you can transfer or use across supported DeFi protocols.
As staking rewards accrue, each weETH represents more underlying eETH. Your weETH balance does not need to increase for those rewards to accumulate. This is different from a token that pays rewards by adding units to your wallet.
For someone who wants to hold ETH and earn staking rewards without choosing and rebalancing DeFi positions, weETH is the simple way.
Liquid staking also gives you flexibility when you want to exit. You can swap weETH at the market price or use ether.fi’s redemption process. A swap is immediate but might have price slippage. The redemption takes time but doesn’t cost anything.
Liquid ETH: let a vault manage the strategy
The Liquid ETH vault takes a more active approach.
Instead of holding a staking token alone, you deposit into a vault that spreads funds across ETH-focused DeFi positions and rebalances them for you.
You receive a vault token representing your share. Strategy returns are reflected in the value of that share, rather than arriving as a separate reward you need to reinvest manually. The share’s value can also fall if the strategies lose money.
Liquid ETH is for holders who want to use DeFi strategies without doing it manually. It aims to earn beyond base staking, but it does not guarantee a higher return.
Plan for the exit, too. ether.fi currently estimates Liquid ETH withdrawals at up to three days.
weETH vs. Liquid ETH at a glance
| Feature | weETH | Liquid ETH |
|---|---|---|
| Yield source | ETH staking rewards | Managed ETH DeFi strategies |
| Management | Hold the token; choose any further DeFi use yourself | Vault allocates and rebalances |
| How yield accrues | Value per weETH rises with staking rewards | Vault share value reflects strategy performance |
| Exit | Market swap or protocol redemption; liquidity and waits vary | Withdrawal queue; estimated up to 3 days, not guaranteed |
| Main risks | Smart contracts, slashing, liquidity and market prices | Smart contracts, underlying protocols, strategy losses, liquidity and markets |
How to start in Zerion
Both options use the same Earn flow in the Zerion web app. The available routes depend on your selected network and asset.
- Open the Zerion web app and go to Earn.
- Choose the network where your ETH sits, then select ETH, or WETH/weETH where supported.
- In the Earn field, choose ether.fi weETH or ether.fi Liquid ETH from the partner list.
- Review the displayed yield, fees and deposit details, then click Confirm.
- Sign the token approval if required, then confirm the transaction in your wallet.
Choose how you want to earn on ETH
Choose weETH if you want staking rewards in a token you can keep using. Choose Liquid ETH if you want a vault to manage DeFi allocations. The process is the same and you can track the position along with the rest of your holdings in Zerion.
