Report: How Robinhood Chain Became the Hottest L2 of This Summer

Robinhood Chain launched on July 1.

Eight days later, it became the most active trading chain across Zerion apps. It has held that position ever since.

That’s unusual for any new L2. Even more so for one launched by a brokerage during a bear market.

So we looked into what was actually happening.

We pulled two months of activity that Zerion API indexed for addresses using Zerion Wallet, the Zerion portfolio tracker, and Zerion CLI. These aren’t farming bots generating millions of repetitive transactions. They’re people (and their agents) who are checking portfolios, signing transactions, and trading.

The obvious explanation was Stock Tokens. Robinhood built the chain around that, and demand grew quickly.

But that was only half the story.

A very different market took off alongside them. And when we looked at the wallets behind both markets, we found something we didn’t expect: the Stock Token investors and speculative traders weren’t separate audiences.

They were largely the same people.

The full report digs into:

  • How the number of trades ramped up and took Robinhood Chain to the leading position
  • What Robinhood Chain users held
  • Which Stock Token ranked alongside the chain’s most popular crypto assets
  • Where these users were active before Robinhood Chain
  • How many appear to have made their first-ever onchain transaction there

It’s an early look at what happens when a mainstream brokerage brings its distribution onchain, and users decide what the chain becomes.
